Nikki Nye was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1981. She grew up in Chicago and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from The Illinois Institute of Art - Chicago in 2005.

Since 2003, Nye has been a practicing artist, specializing in the field of paper sculpture - a technique she first learned while in art school.  She works both solo and in tandem, that partnering being Paper-Cut-Project.

Nye began writing creatively as a hobby in elementary school and has since written many poems and short narratives. The Brightness Of Shadows was her first full length novel. Her work is greatly inspired not only by the great original epic fantasy writers, but also by nineteenth century British literature. She draws much from the intense emotion and subtle drama that these writers were so eloquently able to create.

Nye currently lives outside of Chicago with her husband and two daughters.
